Improving the Health of People with Mobility Limitations and Intellectual Disabilities through State-based Public Health Programs

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, invites eligible states, U.S. territories, and tribal governments that work with people with mobility limitations and/or intellectual disabilities (ID) to submit grant applications for CDC’s Improving the Health of People with Mobility Limitations and Intellectual Disabilities through State-based Public Health Programs. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (CDC-RFA-DD16-1603) is to support a new 5-year initiative to improve the health and quality of life among people with mobility limitations and/or ID through adaptation and implementation of evidence-based strategies. This FOA will provide funding to develop and strengthen internal capacity and health-related disability programs to: (1) improve knowledge and awareness about the usefulness and effectiveness of programmatic, policy, systems and environmental changes for people with select functional disability types (i.e., mobility limitations and/or ID), and (2) support applicants to plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate non-research activities aimed at promoting inclusion and accessibility and reducing health disparities between people with and without disabilities. The application deadline is April 19th, 2016.
